About the Role

Are you curious about what happens behind the scenes in a Finance department and eager to put your accounting knowledge into practice? Starting in February 2027, we're looking for an Accounting & Reporting Intern to join our Finance team at Road!

This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day financial operations of a fast-growing, international software company. You'll work closely with our Accounts Payable Specialist and learn how financial transactions are processed, payments are managed and accurate financial records are maintained.

From processing supplier invoices and preparing payment batches to supporting month-end closing activities, you'll get a practical understanding of how accounting works in a real business environment. You'll also have the opportunity to explore how automation and AI can make financial processes smarter and more efficient.

We're looking for someone who's eager to learn, curious about how things work and excited to take ownership of their responsibilities. You'll receive guidance and support from the team while gradually gaining more independence as you develop your skills.

You Responsibilities Include:

  • Accounts Payable: Support the processing of supplier invoices in Yooz, ensuring accurate coding, VAT treatment and allocation to the correct general ledger accounts and departments.

  • Financial Administration: Help maintain accurate financial records in NetSuite, identify discrepancies and ensure transactions are correctly recorded.

  • Payment Processing: Assist in preparing weekly supplier payment batches, verifying payment details and supporting the approval process.

  • Direct Debit Management: Support the preparation and reconciliation of customer direct debit batches, ensuring amounts are aligned with billing records.

  • Supplier Communication: Help manage the Accounts Payable inbox, respond to supplier inquiries and follow up on outstanding invoices or payment-related questions.

  • Reconciliations & Month-End Closing: Assist with supplier statement reconciliations, accruals and other month-end closing activities.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting processes, document workflows and contribute ideas to make daily operations more efficient.

  • Automation & AI: Explore how Excel, Google Sheets and AI-powered tools can help automate repetitive tasks, improve accuracy and simplify financial processes.

Job requirements

What Do We Value in Our Candidates?

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance & Control, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field. Please note that you must remain enrolled at your educational institution throughout the internship.

  • Available to start in January/February 2027, working 32–40 hours per week for 6 months.

  • A solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits and credits, VAT and accounts payable processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate their causes and find practical solutions.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to work, with the ability to maintain accuracy and consistency when handling repetitive work and large volumes of financial transactions.

  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, with an interest in learning new financial systems and tools. Experience with NetSuite, Yooz or other ERP systems is a plus.

  • A curious and proactive mindset, with the confidence to ask questions, take initiative and actively seek opportunities to learn.

  • An interest in technology, automation and AI, with the willingness to explore how these tools can improve financial processes.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Dutch is a plus.
